Laurence Thériault-Lainé

Canadian born, Laurence, specializes in figurative painting, and is greatly influenced by its history. Originally from Sherbrooke, she decided to perfect her apprenticeship and began studying visual arts at the Cégep de Sherbrooke, where she was introduced to a greater variety of mediums. After obtaining her DEC in 2014, she moved to Montreal to do her BFA in painting and drawing at Concordia. Initially, Laurence is interested in the work of an almost photographic representation of the body without artifices, but her university studies mark a transformation in her practice. Her interest in history leads her to recognize the value of the long tradition that constitutes classical mediums such as painting, and to want to include it in a contemporary context.
